in response to reader comment: What about Hindu terrorism ?

This is an all too apparent attempt at Al-taqeya and deception by blaming somebody else and shifting focus.

Hinduism, the oldest religious tradition that originated in the Indian subcontinent is often referred to as Sanātana Dharma (सनातन धर्म) by its practitioners, a Sanskrit phrase meaning "the eternal law". It is a highly tolerant and spiritual practice that acknowledges the diversity in faiths by observing that there are many paths to the divine.

Unlike the childish fairytale morality of monotheistic religions that promise a fantastic heaven or a dangerous hellfire; Hinduism looks at life, death & cosmos as a play of consciousness, energy and matter. It sees the divine as a principle [& attempts to convey this idea through infinite symbolism, ,rituals, myths and stories] and not some flesh and blood god with wings & halo, who has no better business than to document the sins of his creation and later mete out suitable punishments.

The root cause of Hindu violence is negation of indigenous Hindu heritage & conversion by inducement . The church needs to realize that the 'heathen' East has its own evolved Dharmic faith which predates Christianity by thousands of years. The Church has no business prosetlyzing everybody thinking that it earns them brownie points from the almighty. The Church has to get out of its 'White Man's burden' and 'Civilizing the savages' evangelism paradigms and look at India and her people as a formidable ally for future.

Hindus are neither supremacist nor expansionist, nor they have any obligation to spread their faith to gain the goodwill of their creator. Hindu fundamentalism is an oxymoron, as there are no violent fundamental precepts in Hinduism. At the core of its philosophy is the belief that Universe is a play of consciousness and reality is an illusion. This has led to some great western minds to comment favourably about India & her Hindu heritage:

"India was the motherland of our race, and Sanskrit the mother of Europe's languages: she was the mother of our philosophy; mother, through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics; mother, through the Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity; mother, through the village community, of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all".
( - Will Durant, American historian )

"India is, the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only."

( - Mark Twain, American author )

If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India.
( - Max Mueller, German scholar )

"If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India."
( - Romain Rolland, French scholar )
