Strict adhearance to the Qu'ran

Mr. Pipes' continued use of the word "radical" in reference to Muslims puzzles me. They are not "radical", they are simply "fundamentalists". While I'm facinated with Mr. Pipes' commentary and choice of information he writes about, I wish he would comment more on a few "fundamental" principles found in the Qu'ran (the Islamic "bible"). Example: the most assured way for a Muslim to go to "paradise" (Islamic heaven) is to kill a Christian or a Jew. Muslims in the Qu'ran are commanded to lie. Muslims in the Qu'ran are instructed to "kill the infedel (anyone who is not of Islamic faith) wherever you find him". THESE ARE IN THE QU'RAN. While I realize that the "terrorist" Muslims of today believe we are in "times of jihad" and therefore justified in their endevours, they are Muslim fundamentalists......Webster's New World Dictionary:

fundamental -n., a principle, theory, law, etc. serving as a basis. fundamentalism -n., religious beliefs based on a literal interpretation of the Bible. ( The Islamic "bible" is the Qu'ran. )

radical -n., favoring basic change, as in the social or economic structure. This last definition is nebulous when applied to the Muslim; it ignores the imparative motivation behind the terrorist Muslim. A "peacefull" Muslim can also be "favoring basic change, as in the social or economic structure".

The fact that the Qu'ran is the "bible" for the world's second largest religion, combined with the almost absolute lack of self-policing, ie. Muslims identifying and rejecting groups of "jihadi" Muslims, opens a window into the reasons why, for example, Muslims reject modern medicine (strict adhearance to the Qu'ran: no pork, no alchohol, etc.). A "true" Muslim adhears strictly to the Qu'ran. If his son or daughter die from smallpox or suffer from polio, it is the "will of Allah". Islam started out as an extremely violent religion, as well as dictatorial. Question: if the majority of Muslims today follow the "peaceful" Qu'ran instruction, why do they turn a blind eye toward those that practice "violent" Qu'ran instruction? Fear. Not just of fellow Muslims. Fear of not adhearing strictly to the Qu'ran. -JS
