muslim doctors and terror

Muslims are once again in the news following recent events in London and Glasgow.

Following the attacks of September 11^TH 2001 I remember walking in the town centre in Nottingham a few days later , trying to send out reassuring smiles to fellow members of my community that I may be brown and have a beard but you have nothing to fear from me.

Like wise following 7/7 I again apologised and condemn the action of a misguided Muslims, but I now find myself having to dissociate and express utter contempt for the actions of medical members of the Muslim community.

These actions have bought a sense shame on the Muslim members of the medical profession and I would like to make it clear that their actions have no support from the community and has no relationship to mine great faith. Extremists will attempt to find theological justification for their actions in Islam in response to grievances over Iraq and Palestine, but surprisingly there have been no suicide attacks protesting against events in Darfur.

However I will not pretend that there are no intellectual differences between Islam and the West however we do not believe in violence as a means of persuasion conflict is resolved through negotiation and mutual respect for the other.

We are grateful for the opportunities afforded to us in this country and their actions make our lives in this country worse and not better and only serve to sow the seeds of suspicions over all Muslim doctors working in the NHS.

Finally I would reassure you that we, as Muslims Doctors, hear of any criminal activity, we will be the first to report it to the appropriate authorities.
