The most idiotic move imaginable at this point in history

Reader comment on item: Israeli Jets vs. Iranian Nukes

Attacking Iran -- in any way, shape or fashion -- would escalate into a wider Asian war and cripple the globe economically.

It would almost assuredly cause a run on the US dollar by foreign central banks (yes, beyond Bernanke's ability to 'print at will' to stave off the liquidity crunch), would threaten the already shaky client regimes in Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan and possibly Jordan, and give Putin and the Kremlin the pivotal lead (yes, beyond OPEC) in determining not just energy supplies for Europe, but for other parts of the world.

It would potentially destabilize the eastern flank of Saudi Arabia, where the oil is, and where their perpetually testy Shiites live. It would almost certainly have to be accompanied by an invasion of Venezuela, as Hugo Chavez has been on record as saying that he'd cut oil flows to the US were Iran to be attacked. Don't think Putin isn't in coordination-mode with Chavez and the Chinese regarding this, either.

It would unleash radioactivity across not only Iran, but possibly the Caspian region, the Caucasus, west into Iraq, south into the Gulf states, and east into Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and even China.

It could very well escalate to the point where it'd provide the perfect distraction for the West while China captures Taiwan and its invaluable Strait with its growing Naval prowess, along with the help of other SCO signatory states.

Many in Washington and elsewhere bank on the idea of nuking Iran so they'd be forced to sue for peace. Yet Iran is not the Japan of 1945. Even carpet-bombing Iran with nukes wouldn't make those people heel, as they're plugged into some eery other mindset beyond just mere nationalism. A mindset, mind you, that as of yet has not been defined by us Western strategists, either esoterically or otherwise.

Daniel Pipes and others should pay attention to Brzezinski and others who know better, as none of the above would be conjecture under an attack on Iran.
