in response to reader comment: Fulfilment of Ezekiel 38 & 39 ?

What is the world waiting for? The president of Iran declares that efforts are underway to ‘wipe Israel off the map.' Former U.N. head Kofi Annan held a U.N. sponsored gathering in front of a display that showed the map outline of Israel replaced with a ‘Palestinian State.' Syria is wrangling to get the Golan back. Lebanon is trying to root out foreign invaders the likes of Hizbollah and Al Qaeda, and Hamas has just deposed Fatah as the ruling entity in Gaza. And guess who's stuck in the middle.

Someone has mentioned the Ezekiel scenario complete with the Hebrew Biblical reference that has every part of the circumstances we see today mentioned. Think not?

Iran is, by every evidence, behind at least sixty percent of most of the sedition seen brewing in the Middle East. They have funded Hamas, Hizbollah and other lesser known groups, and are doing so in a concerted way that has all the earmarks of a long running plan that can probably be traced to the Ayatollah Khomeini and his long time to think on such things during his exile. Line this up with the successors of his ambitions to carry out attacks against Israel and it is not hard to see the world in their Islamists eyes. And guess who's stuck in the middle.

Al Qaeda has been an underground enemy of the west for a significant period of time. In its early stages, attacks were carried out with minor exposure of who they were, and not until September 11, 2001, did they rise to permanent international status. They have since stepped up their efforts even while a number of the operatives were seriously compromised or killed. They have settled in Iraq to cause serious developments there in frustration of American attempts to normalize Iraq into a democratic society. They have declared an oath to the death in support of the creation of a ‘Palestinian' homeland and have engaged in multi-fronted efforts to compel just such a thing to happen. The Saudis wonder how the Sunni's will fare in all of this. And guess who's stuck in the middle.

While all this is going on, the European community, especially under the guidance of the European Union, and with special attention by France, Germany, Russia and interventionist Norway to name some, is looking to bring some form of peace to the Middle East, and always, always, expect the Israeli people to provide the lion's share of the solution, namely giving up more land to the cause. Turkey, struggling with their Islamic roots and yet wanting to get closer European ties, is rustling up some attention as well. There is no need to guess who's stuck in the middle of this one.

Some will say to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and as true as that is, remember that it involves the completion of Almighty God's plan for Israel and the subjugation of the world to His reign. In the mean time, followers of the Prophet Muhammed are calling for their prayers to be answered as well, looking for the return of their twelfth Imam and the black turbans and flags of a swelling horde to accomplish their desires of Islamic victory in the Middle East and the world at large. Now we know who's stuck in the middle of this one.

Folks, there is no human solution. It is, seriously, time to pray, praying not in generalities, but personally. If one does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then to pray for forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ's name and ask Him to come into your individual heart and lives. Then those prayers have power to save, and to bring peace to the soul. To those who do not have the inclination or desire to have such a relationship, one can try to pray, but to whom if one does not have the power to avert the tragedy about to befall the world and the people in it.

We can see that the world does not really know what it is waiting for. There is fear, anger, anxiety and anticipation of what is about to happen. The key is to be ready for when it does. And yes, Israel will be in the middle of it all, and is the place to watch.
