Reader comment on item: Op Eds Now More Central in War than Bullets
in response to reader comment: Well said, but is anyone listening?

"...convince them that ending the fighting will not end the threat?" For the first time in U.S. media history (or, at least in my considerable lifetime) we have multi-media messages. Walter "America's Most Trusted Man" Kronkite no longer exists. He' s been replaced by "Perky" Katie Couric. She can peer into the teleprompter and tell us that the war is lost, but only the already-believing will hear it. The media these days wears is bias on its sleeves--all sides. Less about informing and more about polemics. On the other hand, the proliferation of sources, if searched (and that takes time, for sure) can inform us like we've never been informed.

The one and the only thing that will "convince them" is further, and greater, pain inflicted on the U.S. homeland. Sooner or later.

In the meantime, regardless of which of the two sets of circus clowns run the burerucracies inside the Beltway, it's all a waiting game for the Big Attitude Change to come.
