Reader comment on item: Subsidizing the Enemy

Submitted by yuval brandstetter MD (Israel), Apr 29, 2006 at 16:10

The problem lies in the categorization of the "enemy". Dr Pipes assumes that just because Islamics are the major perpetrators of terrorist acts around the world, it is Islamic ideology that is the root of their behaviour, and therefore Islamism is the "enemy". That is not a straightforward conclusion, rather it is a circumstantial one.

In the court of public service opinion it is simply not sufficient grounds for categorization of Islam as an Enemy, such as Nazism. The West, will need a far more severe shock, a true holocaust, to render this equivalnece "Islamism=Enemy" applicable. Fortunately this shock is fast acoming, in the form of thermo-nuclear devices, conjoint with modes of delivery covering most of Western Europe and in the future, Britain. We await with trepidation.
