Muslims (many or all?) do not understand the golden rule.

Reader comment on item: Subsidizing the Enemy
in response to reader comment: Irresponsible and incorrect use of the word 'enemy' .

Dear Dr Pipes,

It seems that the rule 'do not do to others what you do not want to be done to you' is not understood by Muslims (at least some Muslims). Consider the case of your reader Ghulam Muhammed from Mumbai India. Mr Muhammed says with amazing innocence: "that since UK government is not treating Iran enemy, it does not see any reason to interfere with the freedom of religion that all its citizen enjoy."

Does it even remotely occur to Mr Muhammed that the freedom of religion that all British citizens enjoy should also be available to all Iranian citizens?

That would mean that Iran ought not be an Islamic country and if Quran obligates Muslim rulers to protect and propagate Islam, then Quran must be questioned.

How selfish he would have to be to expect freedom of religion in the UK but not expect the same in Iran?
