Was the USSR so bad?
Well sadly it wasn't good. It was somewhat repressive etc.

However I agree with you. The alternative situation now is in many ways less good..
USSR largely overtaken by thieves, and as you say many territories formerly under soviet control now turning to Islam and even militancy...

If we could go back 60 years there might be a lot of things to change but you have to remember, not all the leaders were like Gorbochov. Remember Stalin??
