Western women, instead of shedding tears for the 'oppressed' and 'veiled' Muslims women, better do something for the women and children of your own country:

• Every two and a half minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.

• One in six American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape.

• In 2003-2004, there were an average annual 204,370 victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault.

• 80.9 percent of the adults perpetrating against American children are the PARENTS of the victims. One-third of all parents who were abused in childhood typically abuse their own children. Eighty-one percent of families with reported cases of child abuse, neglect and maltreatment were involved in alcohol and substance abuse. ( Example, 80 to 85 percent of child sex abuse victims in Dutchess County are victimized by their parents)

• 4 million American women experience a serious assault by an intimate partner during an average 12-month period.

• Each year 1 million women American women suffer nonfatal violence by an intimate.
.
• Nearly 1 in 3 adult American women experience at least one physical assault by a partner during adulthood.

• 28% of all annual violence against American women is perpetrated by intimates, specially by husbands and boyfriends.
