Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?
in response to reader comment: A simple matter

As usual, a lily-white Dane living in their own world-- during WWII the whole country was engaged in selflessly helping the Jews escape the Nazis (while not collaborating with them) and gay rights is the only proof of liberal thinking out there. Please! You need to read up on your history and find out that many of those people who "helped" the Jews escape, did it for a huge profit! While you're busy pigeonholing the entire US about gay rights, maybe try and remember that the U.S. is made up of 50 states full of disparate viewpoints and laws. California has different laws about gay marriage than Texas.

Saying how an American feels about anything bears asking the question, "from what state, what region, what county?" There's 310 million Americans. It's not some bloody homogeneous group that all eat frikadeller. This reminds me of a ridiculous statement made to me by a Danish doctor that he thinks there are more dumb people in the U.S. than in Denmark. From a population standpoint, I would guess so. Duh. Typical that you say Denmark doesn't need to be dictated to by the U.S.. But, of course, if Denmark were about to be overrun by some foreign power then the U.S. should come and help, right? Kind of like WWII? Maybe Denmark could try and learn something from the melting pot and both the mistakes and successes of the immigrant experience in America rather than be proud of its xenophobia and racism.
