Well, of course you need the language. You don't say from what country you are, but if your level of swedish is that bad after 3 years, then it is bad. Of course you need a higher level of swedish to get this particular job. You say written sw was used in communication. But probably, your spoken swedish was so bad, they decided to reject. What's so strange with that? There is a huge difference, sitting and writing a letter with a dictionary and grammar books, and to actually speak it understandably. In the three countries I've lived in - apart from Swden - I also had to learn this langauges properly, before getting a proper job. I don't sit and cry and complain because of that. I have many friend who have immigrated here, who've learned swedish . tehy have no problems in getting a job. Sorry to say - but your swedish must suck
