in response to reader comment: Send the Muslims Home

dear christian,

through the anger which is present in your words, obviously impairing your ability to convey your thoughts in an intellectual manner, I can see a message which to some extent I agree with.

I live in a very rural area of central europe, very traditional with local and deeply embedded traditions. since the second world war a muslim migrant community has grown here. it is apparent that this community has no desire or motivation whatsoever to fit in and adopt in public the local customs and expectations. quite the opposite, the migrant community expects to be catered for in every aspect of their day to day lives as they would be "back home", thus giving the local population the feeling of being foreign in their own home! Is this acceptable?

If I travel to the middle east, I and all in my company are expected to respect local traditions, should the same not apply to muslim migrants in non muslim countries? I dont give a damn what people do behind closed doors in the confines of their own homes, but to actively and publicly exploit the generosity of their hosts and seek the right to impose their traditions on members of their HOST country, would be completely unacceptable behaviour in their own country of origin. Before you start labelling me a racist, please be informed, that I myself am a migrant in a host country. I cant afford to be racist :o) . I am a firm believer that should another country be open, generous, tolerant and accepting enough to provide me with a home and the quality of life I seek, the least I can do is show respect for my hosts.

While I dont agree with your comment of sending everyone home, I support the need for stricter regulations to ensure that those who seek a host country are made to conform to the local customs.

Kind regards
