Have I read the Koran?

Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?
in response to reader comment: do you read the holy Quran?

Yes, I've read the Koran. I am amazed...actually no I'm not, I'm not surprised at all, that Muslim men (and women) always use the excuse that life was actually worse for women before the Koran was written as some kind of indication that all is well in Islam regarding it's treatment of women. It's not well, it's a long way from being well. The Koran is a manual written for the benefit of men with land to be taken for Allah by any means possible and the booty included women and children who are to be enslaved. There are further sexual promises for men in Paradise... human women get nothing.

No one should allow their love of God to confuse them to reality. The fact that baby girls are no longer lucky to survive being strangled at birth is no recomendation. Frankly I'd rather be strangled than brought up as a Muslim woman anyway. I cannot put any price on my freedom as a human being but I do know that when I was being brought up in a strict religious household I felt my life wasn't worth living and it wasn't in any way as strict as a Muslim one, I was free to wander the streets in my own time etc. Thankfully the country I live in granted me absolute freedom from my parents at 18, who treated me as a walking pregnancy risk, and I left. It took years for the psychological damage of feeling like someone else's possession to be undone.
