My encounter with Muhammad Ali

Reader comment on item: Muhammad Ali v. George W. Bush

Back in the early 70's I drove a cab in New York City.

One late night after a long day at work I was about to let off a fare at a famous hotel facing Central Park.

Seeing an empty spot to park I proceeded to turn into it. As fast as could be a Rolls Royce convertible, parked at the curb, backed into it.

I then drove a bit further to park in the now vacant spot in front of the Rolls Royce. Now the car sped up and took that spot. Now I was past any empty spots and in the middle of the street.

Exiting the Rolls was Muhammad Ali along with a beautiful blonde. As he entered the hotel he turned and gave me a smile and a wave.

I guess it was President Bush's turn for that smile and wave.
