A sickly Conservative movementReader comment on item: Fellow Conservatives, Please Reject Conspiracy Theories Submitted by Nicholas (United Kingdom), Jan 15, 2022 at 18:05 Dr Pipes, I hope this message finds you well. Just reading the vitriolic mindless backlash against your article here on the comments section and the fact that people will continue to assert without evidence or facts that the election was stolen, this tells me that, in the words of long time conservative intellectual Bill Kristol the Republican Party really had gotten 'rotten to it's core' in many respects. It shows how weak the party is and how susceptible it is to malign forces and ideas such as the ones you describe. Given the above, do you see yourself rejoining the party anytime soon? Also, what do you say to people such as David Frum and Bill Kristol and other notable conservatives who have remained republicans and attempt to change it from within? A futile exercise? I read both your books on conspiracies and liked them very much. I regard the current two conspiracies you cite as incredibly dangerous given that they are prevalent in the country that leads the free world Best regards to you, Nicholas

The politicians feel compelled to go along with ideas they see as dumb. Their performance is not exactly heroic but it is understandable. Rejoining the GOP: I respect Frum's and Kristol's steadfastness and wish them well. Eventually, they will prevail. I'd rather take a hike. Reader comments (46) on this item![]() |
