Conservatives & Liberals: Not So Different after All

Dr. Pipes states, in part:

"Only when conservatives return to their historic principles can they resume their integrity, seriousness, and appeal. Only then can they stand up to the liberal juggernaut now dominating American life."

I totally agree. However, my big concern with these home-grown developments is the state of weakness, discord and chaos these events are portraying on the international stage.

I would go so far as to say that the up and coming difficult "talks" between the Western powers and Russia on the "Ukrainian question" along with the nearly daily unannounced visits by elements of the Chinese military to the island of Taiwan have almost certainly been and will continue to be emboldened by this perceived confusion and disorder – not to mention violence – which inform US society today.

It is thus vital that US citizens be aware of the relevant issues and realize how complex the matter is.

For a superb discussion of these developments, I suggest readers obtain a copy of the just published January 2022 issue of The New Criterion (a cultural monthly) which discusses these issues in 10 impressive essays. Ten difficult essays, I should mention, as they assume familiarity with names such as Burke and Locke.
