Ad hominem?Reader comment on item: Fellow Conservatives, Please Reject Conspiracy Theories Submitted by David (Israel), Jan 12, 2022 at 18:43 Thank you Robert for complimenting me on my Engllish but no, I am not an anglophone. I was born in Russia, lived there until the age of 16 (which made me a fierce anti-socialist), made aliya, did my high school and academic studies In Israel, served in the IDF and lived here for the several decades of the rest of my life, leaving the country only for a brief 3-year tenure in a couple of non-anglophone countries. Not that all of the above is relevant at all, I only mention these facts to refute your assumption that I am some kind of Liberal East- or West-coast Trump-hating Jew or even a Muslim Arab (nothing wrong with being one of these two, by the way :)) rather than who I really am, a hadrcore, hard-nosed, center right anti-socialist Zionist Israeli. I would expect you to respond to the essence of what I wrote, and not to seek ad hominem conspiration-theoretic explanations of opinions that do not match your own admiration of Trump, based on some kind of presumed identity that apparently fits your stereotype of people who are disgusted by Trump. At least in my case, your stereotypes do not work. Now to the point. While indeed I find Trump's style totally disgusting, I do judge Trump mainly by what he does/did and not by what he says. And among the bad things he does/did (I already mentioned he did some good things for Israel, which add to the balance but the overall balance is still overwhelmingly bad) are: - fomenting popular hatred of half of America against the other half The list goes on but I will stop here.
