"Values" of no value

Reader comment on item: I Give Up: There Is No Terrorism, There Are No Terrorists

val·ue-lad·en

adjective

adjective: value-laden

presupposing the acceptance of a particular set of values.

Terrorism is such a loaded word. The UN has been struggling for more than a decade to define the word and they can't. It is very difficult to. We know what political violence is, we know what murder, bombings and shootings are and we describe them. That's much more revealing, we believe, than using a word like terrorist which people will see as value-laden.

-- Tarik Kalifa

What Tarik is saying, in Objectivese, is that calling terrorists "terrorists" is against his values... and his values are apparently becoming those of the BBC as well. It is in this world of "values", that the real, world-wide struggle is happening.

Don't give up, Daniel. If it seems at times, that your values are under attack continually from all quarters, you can rest in this: Your values will prevail, which seem to be founded upon those of HaMelech HaOlam. Kalifa's values, on the other hand, are merely human and therefore

have

no

value.
