proliferation of Burqa and Niqab into South Africa

Reader comment on item: Boston Bombing Lesson: Ban Niqabs and Burqas

There has been a marked increase of Muslim garb into South Africa ,to the extent that its common place to see such garb on any outing into a shopping centre or large gathering. This was extremely uncommon a number of years ago. After reading your piece and some of the responses such as freedom of religion it shows me the idiocy of the liberal position. why accommodate such garb if it presents a real threat. even moreso, in i believe that the acceptance of this garb under the guise (or disguise) of religious freedom sees a commensurate increase in the number of acts against other groups.

The Militant Muslims have somehow insidiously crept into a position of Power in the ANC and even moreso the ANC Youth League and Stdentb representative councils at Universities such as WITS and UCT. this was evidenced by the outrageous attack by Muslims and black students on the recent Yom Ha Atzmaut celebrations in Johannesburg. What was worse than the stink bombs being thrown en mass in the hall was the baying group outside who were screaming "Death to the Jews and Destruction of Israel. The boston bombing raised a thought to me, if one had access to all the suicide bombings ,bombings murders and general genocidal attacks on random civilians over the last 30 years, what percentage would be shown to be carried out by Muslims and what percentage by other groups? do you have these figures available?
