Jihad motivations

Reader comment on item: It's Not Road Rage, It's Terrorism

Submitted by stevias (United States), Apr 4, 2012 at 18:45

If no one wants to believe that a person can kill others, strangers, children in the name of their religion then why do we bother even considering motivation? They can say they are killing because God told them to (as indicated in the article talking about deific decree is a delusion) and we can claim that this is simply insane.

No one would be comfortable in our society believing that there was even a possibility that someone who is convinced that it is perfectly acceptable to kill in the name of religion or God is sane. We think they are crazy, We think that all Jihadis who kill are crazy. That's why we allow them to plead insanity. We are unable to believe otherwise because we just do not think that way. Anyone in our society who kills because their religion told them to is considered--- crazy. Period, the end.
