In Reality - It is Rage - It is Just Not Limited to the Road

Reader comment on item: It's Not Road Rage, It's Terrorism

A common form of ancient communication was the use of drums, signaling many things, not the least of which is for actions of war.

In the fundamental Muslim membership of Islam (and those of associated ideology), there has been a 'beating' of their own drum system for war for a very, very, very long time; and though for a considerable measure of time, those messages were either ignored or obfuscated (how's that for a confusing term of legal portent) or both for reasons that are complicated as much as they need to be identified with those in legion with the terrorist ideology.

But the intrinsic message here is fundamental –Islam is at war with the non-Islamic rest of the world, no matter the label one wants to associate with it. If one wants to determine the 'motive,' a decidedly Americanesque legal observation, the motive is hatred, pure and simple. To 'amp' it up and give the special label of terrorist activity is in actuality superfluous; if it is an act of war, then the special circumstances would apply if properly prosecuted.

But therein lays the problem; Islam knows what they want and how to achieve it in the face of western opposition: and western opposition (a term loosely applied here for the wan response sometimes seen), cannot even get past what to call it, let alone respond to it. Fundamentalist Islamists count on that.

The western authorities have lost sight of what it takes to preserve the western societal philosophical base; they have removed the source of its founding power. In that vein, they have lost the ability to provide a defense of the attacks on their way of life, not recognizing fifth column attacks when they see one and forgetting how to proceed past the legal blockade put up by the criminal defenses that prey upon the weaknesses of a system no longer able to defend itself, let alone defend its responsibility to the people. Fundamentalist Islamists count on that too.

From the time of the recent Islamic revolution's declaration of war against the west, the battle lines were drawn, not as maps on a playing field, but as an ideological arena that though it cannot be seen graphically like a cyber game, it is as real as the victims that are placed in funeral plots world wide on a daily basis. It is almost too late to reverse the process, but it can be delayed for a season. But that requires vision; and that is the most elusive aspect not realized today by too many of the political powers now in charge in the world. The wrong visions are being observed instead.
