Keith Williams writes:

"..........Allah was also used by the first Christians well before Islam. Allah was used before the English word God was known by the early Christians"

as though the Christian concept and the Islamic concept of deity are interchangeable

Keith, way before your illustrious leader came along - the Zoroastrians in Iran called the Supreme Being "Ahura Mazda". Unfortunately Islam couldn't handle Zoroastrianism , even though it is also a monotheistic religion - and forced them to convert to their 'Allah' - otherwise they were persecuted.

Obviously 'Allah' was NOT interchangeable with 'Allah'. So, what has changed????

The persecution of Zoroastrians (and others in Iran) by the practitioners of 'the religion of peace', with its tenets of there being 'no compulsion in religion' , while not as severe as it once was, continues right up to the present day:
"
The Iranian revolution of 1979 and the eventual establishment of the new theocratic Islamic Republic posed many initial setbacks for religious minorities. Today, the Zoroastrian community in Iran is estimated by some to number some 22,000 - half the size of that in existence before the 1979 Islamic revolution."
