An assumption not quite appropriate

Reader comment on item: Obama's Mansion, Saddam's Money

Submitted by Don Young (United States), Oct 30, 2008 at 12:38

As a devoted reader of Daniel Pipes and his insights, I have a problem with associating Rezko's money passed to Obama, and Sadaam. Indeed, Rezko provided funds for the Obama home. That story is old hash already...many months ago. As a Jewish fan of Obama, and one who participated in early fund raisers for him, I wonder if that association would darken any goals of public declarations I might wish to make should Obama win the electtion. Would money I contributed to him or his cause assocate me with Rezko, or an illegal act in any way simply because I helped start him on his way? The association you make with Sadaam is a little difficult for me to follow. Rezko yes. But if Rezko made money from ANYONE else does his action associate that receiver of cash with Rezko's source? I think not, and as a very bright man, your second thought might have to wrestle with the logic that you proferred.

By the way, I think you will see that Obama's pledge to regard any event that threatens Israel as a threat to the United States will be verified in the actions he will take.Your column today seems an effort to reduce readers from voting for the possible next president. Consider the other candidate and rationalize his receipt of $120,000 years ago during the savings & loans scandal and money he took from the convcited perpetraor, and paid back ONLY when the news became public. six years later.
