Russia, Islam and Israel

Nikita's petition puzzles me. Ever since May 1948 Russia seems hell-bent on destroying Israel, resorting to the aid of the surrounding Arab Muslim nations. Let's recall e.g. the Operation Peace for Galilee in 1982. When IDF invaded Saida they bumped into a huge stockpile of arms and all sorts of military paraphernalia, enough for an army of one million. Everything by courtesy of USSR.

In our days, Russia is on good terms with Syria and provides advanced military hardware for their ally. Iran apparently foots the bill. Etc.
