History is littered with the remains of failed plots and fallen ambitions. It is the very nature of humankind globally, and locally, to try and interfere with the politics of the Middle East, specifically the land in the possession of Israel. There is a reason for this, whether one calls into discussion the Biblical basis of the Holy Scripture, or a more secular observation of the hostilities now occurring there.
That the Soviets had a scheme to disrupt Israeli politics, or to limit the Jewish intent of self defense becomes a study of how the Hebrew Nation is secured in the land in spite of attempts on every side and from within to diminish the land and the people who are promised the land forever.
The Middle East is a chessboard of political aspirations and global dominion inspired by a darkened spirit, but it is beyond human ability that we see all efforts to solve the crisis that besets Israel to fail. One may try to avert by human reason the obvious plan and control of Israel's Almighty Sovereign, but in that blindness one shall never see the power of His Mighty hand.
The premise of the book mentioned here demonstrates the keen interest that the Soviet Union had in Middle Eastern affairs, and if one looks closely, of the successor interests still found in the land of the north. This is by Sovereign design, from which came the restoration of a united Jerusalem, even if in secular form. This secularism will be changed also, likely in the not so far distant future.
Gog and Magog, Meshech and Tubal from the north figure very prominently in Israel's future, and if one thought that the former Soviet Union suffered a significant setback in the losses of the Six Day War, it will not be hard to presuppose in these more hostile times a greater setback to come for the enemies of Israel which is yet to be seen. Not to worry, sons of Israel, for the Sovereign is your Defender; you have Almighty God's Word on it.
