I saw a documentary of Arab-Israeli conflict some years back, which suggested that Soviet msireadings of their spy satellites was forwarded to the Arabs about Israeli buildup, which triggered Arab panic, which triggered a pre-emptive strike by Israel. But there was no suggestion that it was a deliberate misinformation campaign by the Soviets.
