All things are not expedient

Reader comment on item: Should We Blame a Florida Pastor for Deaths in Afghanistan?

Submitted by Frank Luke (United States), Apr 7, 2011 at 10:54

When Islamic extremists kill innocents because somebody somewhere burns the koran, they are displaying the vileness of their souls. However, the man from Florida who burnt the koran did a great disservice to the innocents whose lives he risked, doing what he did. He has the right to burn any book he wants, including the bible/koran/math text book, but if it endangers the lives of some innocent people, he is displaying his lack of love for those innocents. "All things are permissible for me, but all things are not expedient". I wonder if he knows what that means. Those islamists who killed people do not know God, so they have an 'excuse'; that man in Florida who burnt the koran was expected to know God.
