Reader comment on item: A New Round of Anger and Humiliation: Islam after 9/11

Well researched article from an well informed author. This is the most comprehensive article I have read about Muslims so far. However I don't agree with the author that Muslims can be modernized. Islam itself is violent, backward and unmodernizable. How do i know? Well, being a non-Muslim in Muslim dominated Bangladesh, I intimately know the Muslim mindset.

The Muslims have been waging jihad against my people for more than quarter of a century. Bangladesh's army, motivated by Islamic fanaticism and religious hatred, perpetrated 13 major massacres in the span of 15 years between 1980 and 1995. Our only "crime": we refuse to become Muslims and resist Muslim infiltration into our lands. We have been fighting Islamic terrorism for more than quarter of a century without much publicity. Ironically the west including USA are the major donor countries to Bangladesh. I hope current spate of Islamic terrorism will wake up western conscience.
