Education Not Indoctrination Please

The purpose of the public education system is to educate not indoctrinate. The dicussion and study of various religions is a door to the different cultures of the world. However, the curriculum should not allow the presentation of religious doctrine as fact. These are schools funded by tax dollars and must adhere to the separation of church and state regardless of the slips George Bush has allowed in the upholding of this Constitutional principle. If anyone is interested in another major violation look on the front page of Sunday's New York Times. The article is "Religion for Captive Audiences, With Taxpayers Footing the Bill" by Diana B. Henriques and Andrew Lehren. The former article inspired me to research the origins and importance of the separation of church and state for a term paper.
