Islamicising you????

Reader comment on item: Muslim Zionism
in response to reader comment: Thank you Abdul Rahman!

My point was one of semantics. As the word muslim means essentially, one who is submitted to God, anyonme following scriptures faithfully is in a state of submission to God. We need to look at what is common between us, and belief in a single deity who created everything and loves us is a pretty big similarity. Of couse as a practising Jew you are different to me a practising "muslim" in the narrow sense, I never suggested otherwise.

I am a bit shaky on modern history with regards to Israel/Palestine being a student of ancient history, but is the right of return law based on scripture since Zionism is an essentially secular movement and ideology about Jewish national identity (please correct me if I am wrong)?

I am also a theology student studying under a christian expert in the Hebrew scriptures who has even been invited to lecture Jewish scholars. I am aware of the scriptural basis for Jewish tenure in Palestine/Israel, which is probably evident from a closer reading of my posting in this thread. Thank you for pointing out the relevant scripture from my tradition but I am aware of the general meanings throughout although I could not remeber that verse specifically.

My general angle is that all human beings need more understanding and acceptance of difference (tolerance is not enough); that the peoples of the book have a special tie that should be made closer especially in this era; that if dialogue is to have any purpose, then it is to reach understanding of each other and remove prejudices rather than entrench them, which I see happening a bit more often than not in this blog.

Interestingly, my latest theology unit ( and unfortunately my last in this degree) is specifically on the written Jewish prophets from Amos but excluding Daniel (as an apocalyptic). I started it yesterday. It looks fascinating.
