Lynn, your statement is well founded. The Torah mentions Jerusalem (with various names) approximately nine hundred times. I believe Koran makes no statement about Jerusalem.For Jews, Jerusalem is the center of the physical and theological universe. If I'm not mistaken, it is the holy of holy for Christians as well? Muslims pray towards Mecca, whereas Jewish Halacha states that we should direct our prayers in the direction of the holy temple, which, of course, stood in the place where the Dome of the Rock is now located.
