" Islamism" is a political artifact.

Reader comment on item: Does the [New York] Police Department Profile? Should It?

Submitted by Dr Paul Christopher (Australia), Jun 13, 2006 at 23:31

DR Pipes research since the 9/11attacks demonstrates most Muslims support Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, opose secularism, favour shariah law and are anti- American. How to to identify moderate Muslims ? Dr Pipes admittes it challenges even him! "Islamic moderates" are a threatened species or a voiceless minority. with no countervailing influence.

Enter "Islamism! " What a convenient political artifact! "Islamism" takes the heat off Muslims as it posits that "Islamists" are not" genuine "Muslims.,that they are not inspired by the Prophet, the Koran, the Hadiths , the pious forefathers and fourteen hundred years of jihad and taqiiyya /kitman.

Profiling acknowedges the empirical and verifiable proposition that the vast majority of contemporary terrorists are Muslims, They correctly claim to be Muslims not Islamists! Most Muslims would not know the meaning of " Islamism which they woulkd probably assess as a Western t erm intended to confuse all Muslims!

Profiling is a is a heuristic and operational tool. Law enforcement and counter terroist officials do not have time or resoures to assess wheher a terrorist is a Muslim or an Islamist ! The clock is ticking! . However, profiling is no substitute for knowledge of Islamic deceptive modes : taqiyya ( holy dissimulation or deception ) and kitman ( secrecy) Western counter -terrorist efforts are rightly targeted against MUSLIM terrorists, for example, all major terrorist operations including 9 11have been connected to ISLAMIC mosques. Islamic terrorism is the correct term. Profilers know this truth.
