Check the likely suspects

Reader comment on item: Does the [New York] Police Department Profile? Should It?

Submitted by Ralph C Whaley MD (United States), Jun 13, 2006 at 17:05

It is rational to look for warriors in the muslim community when the war against western civilization is being waged by muslims who are serious about their religious teaching. It is true that there are many Muslims in America and other western nations who do not take seriously the admonition of the Muslim Clerics to kill the western infidels, but there are many who do and it is negligent and irrational to search for those planning to act among people who are not likely to harm us such as little children or non-religious and specifically non- Muslim individuals.

Police properly use information available to them to focus on likely suspects not choosing individuals at random for attention or worse yet to focus on those individuals they have reason to believe are not likely to be the culprits.
