And he obviously had no clue that red hair is also a Norse trait..from Norway not Ireland.


Most historians actually associate red hair with the Celts of Scotland. I remember watching an interesting documentary some time ago where they even traced it back to a specific town/district. The Celts also populated Ireland hence that particular association although it is marginally less widespread which makes sense I suppose. It's most likely (unless you know better of course!) that red hair appeared in Norse countries as a result of the slave trade at that time. So, the evidence suggests that famous Erik had a little Braveheart running through his veins!
