Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?

Submitted by Moravian (United Kingdom), Mar 18, 2006 at 15:29

To Hind Samy. I read the reference you provided and it's dissapointing:

2. We call upon the Danish government and the Danish people to yield to the large number of objective and sincere voices emanating from within their society by apologizing, and condemning and bringing an end to this attack.

I am Moravian and I call on muslims stop attacking Danish people. You attack Danish internal laws and also you attacked them literally in some countries (burned embassies, danish lawyer shot by muslim extremist in moscow in february in connection to cartoon row). I am disgusted by such reactions.

6. We call upon the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as Muslim countries and governments and the international community to press the United Nations to issue a declaration criminalizing any insult to Muhammad, Jesus or Moses or to any other revered prophetic figure.

As a christian I have to refuse this. I don't want anyone to be criminalized for insulting Jesus or Moses. If christians are not able to persusade others by living what Jesus said and showing others that it is true than we can't be trustworthy. If Islam would be so peacefull religion as often claimed by muslims, you wouldn't need to criminalize people for not agreeing with it. It seems to me you often don't believe your own words, that Islam is tolerant, and peaceful religion and I think it isn't. I think it's sometimes peaceful to muslims and hostile to non muslims. I want point out how christians are persecuted in muslim countries:
