I think that you're deliberately choosing to misinterpret what I was saying. I have absolutely ZERO interest in judging any aspect of Islamic culture good or bad whether it be in terms of dress, gender politics, religious practice. It only interests me when it negatively impacts the society in which I live. My reference to the Haj is in the context of the wildly held belief that the cartoon row was extremely well timed given that it had existed as an issue for many months and that the people responsible for organising the Haj (and therefore responsible for the deaths) had a convenient cause to distract attention that would have been better focused on punishing the incompetence that caused the deaths of so many innocent Muslims on their pilgrimage.
