...given all of the obvious differences that were enumerated in the article between Ukrainians and non-Western migrants. Also, it is perfectly natural for members of particular human groups to feel more solidarity with similar peoples from their own civilizational orbit than for those from radically different civilizations and cultures, which is precisely why Muslim refugees or migrants should look primarily to neighboring Muslim countries for aid, and so forth. The only people who apparently think otherwise are the globalist oikophobes who currently run Western societies.

I made a similar point:

As the Scottish economist Adam Smith pointed out in 1817, if a humane European has no personal connections to China, he would "be willing to sacrifice the lives of a hundred millions of his brethren" in China rather than lose a finger of his own. Coming generally from farther away, non-Westerners win less sympathy.
