How to help Yazidis?

in response to reader comment: Helpline for Yazidis and other oppressed of Iraq

There are many people who would like to help people in distress and need , particularly, the Yazidis with whom people from India have a special bond of cultural roots , heritage and pride in preservation of self identity, the very soul of humanity. But most of the appeals for donation are in dollars and foreign currencies. The procedures involved in making such a donation would deter many sincere potential donees and all time well wishers. If there be a nodal point of address mentioned whereby using your local India Visa Card or account or a cheque or a money order or a draft a donation could be made within India and the amount collected by a legally authorised person then be made available for help to the needy Yazidi girls and children , that would be much more convenient and the response would be much better. The Indian community is very generous , especially , for humanitarian causes. I have seen appeals from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and from Australia but all these accept donations only in dollars and foreign currencies. Not in Indian Rupees. So that by itself cuts off a large segment of potential donees for a humanitarian cause.

You may perhaps work a way out and let good people know how to donate. Writing a cheque and sending by post with address and pincode and account payee ( in a bank account ) to an advertised address is the simplest way and the procedure should be legal and the person /agency that collects should be authentic and genuine. Please consult people who have expertise and knowledge in how to donate generously, legally and in time and let people know.
