What is is [pun intended] - the dream of Palestine Arabs to drive the Jews into the Mediterranean Sea.

The Levant also embodies the Fertile Crescent, as well as the Land of Milk and Honey, and now the Arab Spring appears to fulfill Pan-Arabism's Irredentist desire to reconstitute the Empire under Muhammad's successive and parallel Caliphs.

I was not familiar with the journalism Jerrold L. Sobel - but now I will be. If I read anything by him before, it wasn't memorable, as is the case with the peace below.

It was Israel's Abba Eban who at the Geneva Peace Conference, held on December 21, 1973 observed that the "Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity"; I would add that, in accordance with the Five Books of Moses, the Pharaoh required Ten Plagues before he "Let My People Go" - well depicted by (Jewish) Hollywood when Moses was played by Charles Heston

Except for the misleading & simplistic title, this is not only a great article but almost a perfect one:

"Islamic Hatred: The Foundation of the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict" by Jerrold L. Sobel
