It's one of the most shameful chapters of Israel's history that for quite opportunist and - as it has turned out-quite counterproductive reasons it not only hasn't recognized the genocide perpetrated by the Turks but quite the contrary did lobby on behalf of Turkey in the US to block any bill intended to recognize the genocide by America. This outrageous official position is not shared of course by common Israelis as I have mentioned in a comment from 2009 where I quoted a very insightful observation : "Meanwhile, back at the headquarters of Israel's 2nd favorite ally, the Turkish authorities were busy doing what they do best: generate hypocrisy of the highest magnitude. While Jewish leaders in Israel and the U.S. are busying themselves with Genocide denial to appease their Turkish "allies", their Turkish allies are busying themselves accusing Israel of "Judaising" the Temple Mount. " One could add to that two more things the Turks have busied themselves with recently - the flotilla raid and kicking out the Israeli ambassador from Turkey. Well, when you befriend a poisonous snake and don't care when it bites others, should you complain or be surprised when you get bitten by it?
