Age old tactics

Reader comment on item: Keith Ellison, Where Are You?

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jun 8, 2011 at 00:27

Dear Dr. Pipes: While comparing you with Awlaki, Keith's Ellison has used an age old tactic used by selfish and dishonest people (and sometimes by lawyers): compare your opponents to something very bad and, thus, put them on the defensive and divert everyone else's attention (from yourself).

Let us keep our focus on hypocrites and let us keep drawing everyone's attention on to them.

Thanks for your good work.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Right. Ironically, I specifically did not compare Ellison to Khomeini or bin Laden. I'll leave such these gutter tactics to him.
