Reader comment on item: Keith Ellison, Where Are You?

Submitted by Charles Lavergne (United States), Feb 20, 2010 at 03:44

What evidence do you have that Keith Ellison is an Islamist? As an avid Corner reader, Fox news watcher, and National Review subscriber, I'm quite certain I would have heard/read about Congressman Ellison expressing such sympathies at some point before now. Even his speech at ISNA is just generic left-wing identity politics, without a trace of Islamism as it is commonly understood. This is not to downplay the problem of being associated with the likes of ISNA or CAIR in the first place, but those could easily be simple naivete on Ellison's part.

The allegation that a United States Congressman is an advocate of a totalitarian, theocratic ideology with which his country is currently at war is not something to be stated in passing with no supporting evidence. It's a shame, because your article was otherwise very incisive, and could serve as a needed warning.

I am putting together materials on this subject in anticipation of a debate with Mr. Ellison or, failing that, an article about him.
