unsophisticated tone

Reader comment on item: Once considered anti-Islam, senior scholar says he's now in the middle

Presumably Dr Pipes is correct in the assertion of the 'unsophisticated tone' of anti-Islam bloggers. 2 points however -

1/ It probably isn't reasonable to expect everyone to reach the level of informed sophistication he brings.

2/ There remains the real question of the nature of Islam; I'm not sure whether it was Islam in general that Churchill referred to as 'the most retrograde force in the world today', but the sentiment is an accurate reflection on a system of thought, government and society which is based on severe distortion of fact and truth - the Koran. Islam without the Koran would not be too bad - but unhappily the Koran, as I understand it, is at the heart of Islam, and it makes of itself an enemy of every other mode of thought.
