Pipes is substantial

Reader comment on item: Once considered anti-Islam, senior scholar says he's now in the middle

Submitted by David H. Partington (United States), Aug 18, 2010 at 16:12

Unlike most of those writers, commentators, and bloggers who talk about Islam, Dr. Pipes clearly has a substantial background in Islamic studies. He is doing a most valuable service to this country by the accurate documentation he produces through his scholarly books and internet endeavors on the activities of militant Islam. As someone acquainted with Islam (Islamic Studies Ph.D., Princeton 1961) I wish to commend Dr. Pipes for the clarity of his analyses and the line he draws between himself and the somewhat unsophisticated gut reactions one finds in most bloggers. I'm with him all the way.
