Mahendra, Like you I too have read not only the Quran but have also browsed through the Bible and have studied the Bhagawat Geeta. If I were to judge impartially, the philosophy contained in the Geeta is light years ahead of those in the Quran & the Bible. Note the Geeta describes the three principal modes of existence and leaves it to the reader to see where s/he will fit in. It DOES NOT prescribe a particular path, like in the Bible & the Quran. Achieving the Supreme Being also has multiple paths, viz. Karma Yoga, Gyan Yoya & Bhakti Yoga. Tolerance in the Geeta is epitomised when Lord Krishna says " People worship Me in different Forms", thus becoming inclusive of all the different strands of other faiths as well. Next to the Geeta, I admire Jesus Christ for his Sermon on the Mount. However, his exclusivist viewpoint "I am the Way, the Path and no one reaches the Father except through Me" would be a problem for tolerant Hindus to believe in. In Islam alone, is there the death penalty for apostasy ! I've often wondered if non-muslim Arabs & those of other religions had the same rule, there might not have been any muslims today ! For a detailed and rational discussion of the Quran, please read the websites www.faithfreedom.org & www.islam.watch.org
