Need I remind you that the politics of framing people as 'unamerican' and 'unpatriotic' were the creation of the republican party. A highly politicized and systematic approach which questions people's loyalties and labels them as traitors simply because they don't appease the republican doctrine. Such divisive techniques have split a nation, where the victor (in this case the democrats) are feverishly supported by their voters because they agree with their policies and because they are disgusted by the other side, and the losers........well, they blog on the internet about the coming doom, about how traitors are roaming the white house and how they should all be very afraid. I blame the mccain campaign for not being able to forsee the continuation of this division post-election and from a man who claims that he put country first, all I see is a man who wants to win by making people fear the unknown, question the integrity of other americans and label terrorist onto those who they don't understand. I truly had hoped that this election cycle would be solely based on the issues, where people voted because they liked idea A as opposed to being afraid of unknown X.

How can you have a progressive democracy when half the country is openly claiming mutiny and proclaiming that they must be the brick wall that keeps this malignant president in check? Plus, government is extremely complex, the decisions are made by consensus, therefore even if he were to align himself in a more tolerant foreign policy approach, rest assured that it will only be because those around him have agreed and condoned his actions.

I say, let's give him a chance and hope that he proves the critics wrong and signal a new era in american politics where fear is not the sole determinant in choosing a president.
