The Vain Glory of FranceReader comment on item: Saddam's Rap Sheet Submitted by Rich Paden (Taiwan), Mar 14, 2003 at 18:23 It is pretty clear that France simply wants to gain international recognition with its permanent member status on the UN Security Council, while Germany - the main economic power on the continent - deals with its domestic problems. The French have much more to lose in oil rights than the US has to gain. Why is no one asking about this situation? Oil instead of democracy should be France's slogan.de Villapin and the rest of the French are still living in the 19th century, when France was a great military power, rather than looking at the inability of the French government to protect its people once in the 20th century from threats. A job requirement for the international protector of the world order is not to let one's people be enslaved by a foreign power at least once in the last century.
