I have been reading comments for and against on why the U.S. should go in a for a 'regime change' in Iraq with some interest.
What I have noticed here is that there is a profound distrust of Muslims. This is of a piece with the Western media's calculated design to demonise Muslims. Once you demonise somebody, it becomes easier to eliminate them from the face of the earth.
A similar campaign was run by a certain Adolf Hitler in the 1930's against the Jews, laying the groundwork for the extermination of six million Jews.
The US, I believe, suffers from a severe case of amnesia. While Saddam is a brutal dictator, King Fahd is a 'benign' ruler because he grovels before Uncle Sam. Ditto for the Sabahs, the Thanis and the Mubaraks of the Arab world...
