The prudent thing to do
Reader comment on item: [Mosque Mischief and] Counting Mosques

Submitted by Maximilian Valparaiso (United States), Feb 4, 2003 at 17:06

As usual, Mr. Pipes is right on the money.

What is always fascinating to observe is how Islamists "demand" their "rights." Rights, they do not have in the repressive, misanthropic, countries ruled by theocratic Islamic despots from whence they hail. Rights they wish to take away from the rest of us when they establish their fantasy of sharia law around the world—just as the Qu'ran instructs.

The claim that "Islam is peace" is an unmitigated lie! Anyone can read the Qu'ran, the hadiths, and the violent islamic "holy" literature that are quoted by the terrorists, ordinary Muslims and clerics in thousands of mosques across the world. In fact, there are instructions in the Qu'ran to lie to the "infidel." Such a lie is not considered a sin because it "protects" Islam. After all, it is not radical, Lutherans from Scandinavia who are committing acts of terror in the name of their religion—it is Muslims. It is Islamists who have declared war against the West—not the other way around. It is Islamists who continue to threaten and terrorize the whole world and every other religion in the name of Islam.

The only hope of peace from radical Islam will be if there is a bonafide reformation in Islam. When the so-called "moderate" Muslims march each and every time an Islamic terrorists commits an atrocity in their name, then, we can hope for change. When these same Muslims burn the colors of the terrorists' instead of the flags of the West, then, there may be hope. When these Muslims take personal responsibility for the desperate situation in which Islamism finds itself, instead of blaming their miserable plight on the rest of the world, then, there may be hope. When Muslims reject the violent, latter half of the Qu'ran and embrace the peace, tolerance and equality that they claim Islam stands for—then, there may be hope.

Until then, please count mosques and members of mosques. It is the only prudent thing to do. As Muslims, Ariton Marku and Max Rose have indicated, "Good" Muslims, those interested in peace and tolerance, should have no objections. In fact, they should turn suspicious people in to the proper authorities. We were the ones attacked. We have a right to defend ourselves in any manner, shape or form necessary—including counting noses in mosques.
